Product Review: Veya Designs

I love stationery and I’ve been collecting them since I was in elementary school. As an adult, I really appreciate good stationery at an affordable price. Old school correspondence is still necessary in this digital age.

Each card come with a matching envelope

We met Jyoti from Veya Designs last month for a get together. We got a sampler set to review for this blog post and I really like how thick the paper is and how pretty the envelopes are. You can get a small box of 12 card sets for $18, a large box of 24 card sets for $32 and personalized card sets for $45. The personalized cards will make great gifts for the coming holidays.

Fountain pen with Aurora Black ink

We think that certain occasions still require a handwritten note and for this thank you card I wrote for a friend, I was able to use my fountain pen and the ink didn’t smudge. Do check out their shop to see their full line, including a kids collection.

Public Garden Flea Market

We joined the flea market organized by Public Garden at the National Museum last February and we had a great time. The museum has always been one of our favorite places in Singapore and we go there often so we were excited when we got the invitation to participate as a seller at that venue.  Just as expected, the light was great and the AC was cool. This made selling on a weekend very pleasant.

Katrina Alana booth

As usual, Public Garden has a great selection of sellers and they always have vendors who sell food and drinks which is a godsend to the participating vendors. We didn’t manage to eat before going to the museum and so we sampled all the baked goodies.

We bought several cupcakes from Plain Vanilla and I really loved the red velvet cupcakes.

There were handmade notebooks from Kariton by 1372 Designs made by Ruby and Seb.

Kikei Mono sold these adorable little monsters. Would you believe these are made from socks?

By My Old School was selling vintage items. These old Russian badges caught my eye.

By My Old School

This gorgeous hat by Mandy Pan really stood out from the rest of her display. If I had a great garden party to attend in the next few months I would have snagged this.

Hey Kumo had these cool travel guides. They had great graphics on the covers and I would have loved to browse their items more if I had the time to.

As usual there were several jewelry sellers with unique goods like Strangely Yours and By Invite Only.

I love the bags that Irene from Carrot Pepper makes. The cute fabric and great form makes for a great statement.

Fair Flare sold party goods. I haven’t seen stuff like these sold here in Singapore. I’m definitely bookmarking their shop for future party styling.

Made Little sold these cute kids clothes and bibs. If we had a little ones we would have grabbed a few of these outfits.

As you can clearly see there are lots of cool vendors selling great items. We bought several items throughout the day and hopefully when you visit fairs and bazaars you are inspired to support these artists and small businesses.

We will be participating in the Public Garden Flea Market on February 18 at the Goodman Arts Centre Block B near Mountbatten MRT. This is a must see flea for those looking to score some unique goods. The organizers usually select a good variety of sellers. Click here to view our post the last time we participated at Public Garden as a seller.

The last Public Garden Flea had food, art, plushies, stationery, a travel guide and many other interesting products

MAAD November 2011

MAAD stands for Market for Artists and Designers and this event is usually held every first Friday of the month. With the revamped MAAD format, the event is held at night and there are performances held at the same time. If you haven’t been to MAAD before, it is definitely worth the visit.

Suitcase Display Case

Sellers at this event are friendly and they can event give you a lot of product information for a piece that you are interested in. We met some new folks are reconnected with old ones. We were fortunate enough to be at the same spot as our friends Yen from Yen Paintings and Joyce from Chic Noir. Other friends,  Sylvia from Bon Chat and Corine from Cloud9to5 got spots at the inside. I didn’t have time to take a photo of Joyce’s booth as there were always customer’s there when I wanted to take a shot.

Yen's Paintings and Photograph Prints

Yen made a cool sketch of our booth. She did it so quickly and I do love it. We were talking with her and Joyce the whole night long that I almost forgot about the humid weather outside. Great company made the experience so much fun.

Lovely bags, cards and shirts from Sylvia of Bon Chat

Corine's from Crochet Pouches made from high quality merino wool

Here are a few of our favorite shops at MAAD:

Illustrations from Wu Yanrong

Handmade Rubber Stamps from DROOL

Cute Notebooks with Smart Slogans from Epigram Books

Couldn’t resist and bought the pink one that says “I’m not sensitive. I’m in touch with my feelings.” I was told by one of the ladies from Epigram books that this notebook used to be a corporate gift for Clients and they were so popular that they decided to sell them. Cool idea.

Handmade Books from Osanpo Craft

Guide to Singapore from alter:sg

We bought this book when we were at Public Garden. It was nice to see Christine and gang at MAAD.  Get this book if you’d like an independent guide about Singapore.
